William G. McGarvey
Age 91, of Magnolia, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022. He was born August 4, 1931 in East Fairfield, OH, a son of the late William J. and Rose Marie (Mercer) McGarvey, and had resided in Dellroy and then Canton prior to Magnolia. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Dellroy High School. He retired in 1996 as the Owner-Operator of Mid-American Security Service, and prior to that he had been a Deputy Sheriff for Stark County for about 15 years. For several years, Bill hauled boats from Atwood Lake Marina to many locations, including Florida and Atlanta, GA. He was the “Captain” of the ATWOOD PRINCESS on Atwood Lake. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife, Debbie McGarvey, with whom he celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 7th, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristi McGarvey, one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Steve Finley, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Grayson McGarvey, Kennedi McGarvey, Kaitlyn Finley, and Alina DiPalma, and her children, Reece, Johnathon, and Angelo.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Ruth Ann Bosley and Rev. Bill Eckert officiating. Friends may call Friday 3-4 p.m. before the service. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
