TERRY L. SLUTZ,
Age 70, of East Sparta, passed away Sun., Feb. 7, 2021. Born June 30, 1950, in Canton, a son of the late Fredrick and Minnie (Herbert) Slutz. Terry was a 1968 Graduate of Sandy Valley High School and served with the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Ohio Bell in 2000 after 32 years service.
Preceded in death by his brother, Butch Slutz. Survived by his wife, Raberta Slutz, with whom he celebrated their 44th Wedding Anniversary on May 22nd; two daughters, Jennifer Roberts and Valerie Neading; one son, Benjamin Slutz; one sister, Susie (Paul) Fritchley, one brother, Dean (Barb) Slutz; one sister-in-law, Jane Slutz and five grandchildren, Roxy, Lily, Stella, Lucy, and Benjamin.
Terry was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in many capacities. He especially enjoyed the Bible studies and the lifelong friendships he made with the men from church at their weekly breakfasts and in the men’s choir. Terry loved to read and listen to music and had an extensive library of books and CDs. He collected tools for wood-working and could fix just about anything.
Terry battled Alzheimer’s in the later years of his life – and it was a battle. Terry was a fighter, but the disease affects so much more than just memory. The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) is a great resource for questions or anyone who may have a family member facing a similar situation.
Terry was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, a grandfather, a friend, a helper, a listener and so much more. He is already so very missed.
