Robert P. Cassel

Age 79, of Canton, passed away Wed., March 25, 2020.  He was born Dec. 3, 1940 in Canton, a son of the late Paul and Grace (VanDorsten) Cassel, and was a life resident.  Bob was a 1958 graduate of McKinley High School, and 1962 graduate of Bowling Green State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, and where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Ohio Kappa Chapter.  He retired in 2002 from The Timken Co., after 35 years’ service, where he was an industrial engineer, and was an expediter to their different locations.  He was a member of Church of The Covenant and grew up in Calvary Presbyterian Church. Bob honorably served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He first became a member of DeMolay Canton Chapter, and as an adult he served as a “DAD” advisor, and then Bob became active at the Masonic Temple, as a member of Canton Lodge #60, F. & A.M., serving as Master in 1983, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, and Tadmor Temple.  He also was a member of Legacy Chapter #596, Order of Eastern Star, and the Louisville German American Club.  Bob sang with the Arion Singing Society and volunteered at MAPS.

  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruthann Cassel.  He is survived by his wife, Harriet M. Cassel, with whom he celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 16, 2019; two sons, William Cassel, and his daughters, Enna and Jayna, and Michael (Fiancee’ Erin Tillson) Cassel, and their daughters, Danielle, Mary Helen, Kyleigh, & Cherie; and one sister Joanne Chaney.

  A Masonic Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2022, in Church of the Covenant, 3014 Fulton Rd. NW, Canton, OH 44718.  A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 1:15 p.m. with Rev. William Watt officiating.  Military Honors will be held at the church.
