Gene Reichard

Age 90, of East Canton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021.  He was born Feb. 27, 1931 in Canton, a son of the late Arthur and Alice (Keim) Reichard, and had been a life resident of Osnaburg Township.  Gene was a 1949 graduate of East Canton High School and retired in 1983 from The Timken Co., after 33 years’ service, where he was a pipefitter.  He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Sandy Valley American Legion Post #432, was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing at Rice Lake, and followed the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Gene honorably served in the U. S. Navy from 1951-55 during the Korean Conflict. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary C. Reichard, on August 10, 2021, son-in-law, Bob Kilpatrick, and a brother, William Reichard.  He is survived by two daughters and three sons, Dee Ann (David) DeWalt, Cathy Kilpatrick, Gene (Michelle) Reichard, Doug (Karen) Reichard, and Bryan (Dawn) Reichard, 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant.  Friends may call Tuesday 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home before the Mass.  Interment will be in Sandy Valley Cemetery with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gene’s memory may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 400 W.
