Marion Espenschied

Marion (Gene) Eugene Espenschied,

passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2021 at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton, OH.  He was born on March 11, 1932 to the late Harry and Marie (Uhl) Espenschied in Strasburg, Ohio. He was married to Naomi (Boyd) Espenschied and they celebrated 68 years of marriage prior to her passing on May 1, 2020. Gene loved to share a joke and make others laugh everywhere he went. He was a hard worker and retired from Diebold after 40 years.  He enjoyed building things and always had a project going.  One of his hobbies was pulling antique tractors with his son-in-law Ron Gauding and grandson Nick. Gene was active in supporting his family’s lives and hobbies. He was proud to be inducted into the Strasburg Athletic Hall of Fame for being on the undefeated 1949 football team. He attended the Martindale Christian Fellowship Church in Canton, Ohio and spent a lifetime sharing his faith.  He is survived by his three daughters, Val Pearson, Susan (David) Fritz and Jean Gauding; four grandchildren, Carrie (Dan) Roush, Amanda (Josh) Moyer, Sarah (Josh Cortina) Bayliss and Nick Gauding; as well as seven great grandchildren.
