Margaret Maurer Obituary

Margaret L. Maurer

Our beloved Margaret, age 71, of Canton, passed away Monday, Sept.13, 2021.  She was born Jan. 23, 1950 in Canton, a daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Daley) Vaughan, and was a life resident.  Margaret was a 1968 graduate of Lehman High School, and was a 1972 Hall of Fame Princess, who escorted Lamar Hunt, original owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, into the Hall.  She had last been employed in the Gift Shop of Studio Arts & Glass, working for her friend, Wendy Joliet.  She was a member of the Concord Therapy Group and had many friends there.  Margaret was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, and she and her husband had season tickets in the Dawg Pound for many years.  Kevin Mack was her favorite player and she enjoyed meeting him recently at Browns Headquarters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Dick Vaughan.  Margaret is survived by her husband, Fred Maurer, with whom she would have celebrated their 29th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 31st; her sister, Gail Vandall; two sons, Jeffry and James Serra; four grandchildren, Jalen, Luci, and Jenna Serra and Tatum Snyder; and two sisters-in-law, Patti Vaughan and Janet Vaughan, whom she loved as well.  As she loved dogs, she had two Old English Sheepdogs, Farley 7 and Hank 2, who were with her constantly, as were the five before, and all-time favorite, Hannah; and many great friends whom she would do anything for.

According to her wishes she will be cremated and a Get Together with family and friends will be held at her home in mid-October.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Promway Kennel Rescue at 6451 Promway Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.  Promway Rescue, Inc. exists to provide shelter and one-on-one specialized care for the in-need companion animals from local animal welfare organizations and to ensure permanency in a good home.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
