Joseph R. Owens

Age 66, of Magnolia, passed away Sat., November 11, 2023.  He was born Feb. 19, 1957 in Canton, a son of the late Robert and Jean (Crowe) Owens, and was a life resident of Magnolia.  Joe was a 1975 graduate of St. Edward High School in Carrollton and was retired from Timken Steel, after 30 years’ service, where he worked in maintenance.  Joe had served Rose Township as a Trustee for 12 years.  He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Sandy Valley Eagles, Magnolia Lions Club, and served on the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Dept.  Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating at Lake Mohawk.

Joe is survived by his wife, Darlie A. Owens, to whom he was married 42 years on Nov. 7th; two sons and daughters-in-law, Matthew and Christy Owens, and Jeffery and Anny Owens; four sisters and four brothers, Mary Hoce, Karen and Ricci Camarata, Jackie Evans, Janie Owens, Denny Owens, Jon Owens, Bob and Michelle Owens, and Michael Owens.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Humerickhouse as Celebrant.  Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery following cremation.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to either St. James Catholic Church, 400 W.
