Janice LaVerne Krumlauf
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Janice LaVerne Krumlauf, who passed on March 30, 2023. She was born October 20, 1922, in Dellroy, Ohio to Doyle Dayhuff and Mary Catherine (Burnul) Dayhuff McQueen. She graduated from Dellroy High School at age 16 in 1939. She would go on to attend Malone College while in her 40’s, and became a fifth grade teacher in East Canton for 22 years. She loved passing along her love of reading and the importance of education to all.
Known for her witty personality, her love of playing (and winning at) cards, and the good advice (both solicited and unsolicited) that she always gave, LaVerne was a magnet to whom her family have all been drawn. She enjoyed traveling, theater, and reading, but most of all, playing cards.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her ornery husband, Donald “Red” Krumlauf, whom she married in 1942. She is survived by her 2 sons, Ron with whom she shared her home, and Bruce (Shirley) 2 very spoiled grandchildren, Kyle (Clare) and Courtney (Matt), 3 even more spoiled great grandchildren; Evan, Olivia, and Henry, whom she enjoyed endlessly, and so many beloved family and friends; as well as her best furry friend, Angus. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Hill, and the staff at Aultman Hospital, Rose Lane Skilled Nursing, and Crossroads Hospice, for their support and compassionate care
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. or to the Salvation Army of Massillon at 315 Sixth St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646.
