James R. “Jimmy” Skelton,
Beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend. Age 80, of Canton, passed away Tues., Aug. 22, 2023. He was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Canton, a son of the late James and Ramona (Foster) Skelton. Jimmy was a 1961 graduate of Glenwood High School and retired from the Timken Co. where he worked in the machine shop. Jimmy was a member of the former Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He was a true Skelton; he loved his family and sports, especially the McKinley High School Bulldogs, which he supported on and off the field for over 50 years. Jimmy was a fixture at all football, basketball and track meets. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Leanne Egner and Jayne Runge. Survived by his wife, Deborah Skelton; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald (Cathy) Skelton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron Egner and Linda Danby; sister-in-law, Cheryl Carter; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, Mathew (Erica) Egner and their daughter, Ramona, Molly (Bill) Shear and their daughters, Cora and Everly, Patrick Skelton and his son, Bryce, Erin (Ryan) Wilson and their children, Lauren and Grayson, Dan (Amy) Runge, and Megan Runge and her children, James, Katie, Lilly and John. Jimmy was always active in the lives of his nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them.
Services will be held Mon., Aug. 28th, at 11:30 am in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home, with Gary Smith, Celebrant, officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour before the service, from 10:30-11:30 am, in the funeral home.
