Harold Russell Richard Jr.,
aged 87, of Sandyville, Ohio, went to his forever home on the evening of March 16th, 2021 following a day spent with many who loved him. The son of Harold and Margie (Ledford) Richard, Harold was born in Canton, Ohio on October 7, 1933. He graduated from Timken High School in 1951 and was inducted into the US Army in 1955. After 2 years of service, Harold returned to his job at Macomber Steel where he worked for over 20 years. After retiring due to a back injury, he volunteered for 25 years as the Food Coordinator at Helping Hands Network in Waynesburg, Ohio. Harold was an amazing father and grandfather. He spent countless hours with his children and grandchildren taking them camping, attending sporting events, and tickling baby bellies with his beard. Harold had a deep, quiet faith in God that informed his entire life. He attended Sandy Valley Church of God for 12 years, Bethel Temple for 12 years, and he recently attended and served at Sandyville Methodist Church. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Joy Richard (in infancy) and Joyce (Richard) Aaron, and his brother David Richard. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Eileen Richard, brothers Lawrence, Timothy, and John Richard, son Hal (Janice) Richard III, son Stephen (Mindy) Richard, daughter Sara Brumbaugh and daughter Melissa (Philip) Karlovetz, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Sat., April 10th at Grace Baptist Church in Canton, Ohio. Friends and family may also visit from 12-1 at the church. A graveside service will be held Sat. at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville.
