Glen E. Johnstone
Age 98, of Magnolia, passed away Thursday, Feb. 29,2024. He was born April 12, 1925 in Malvern, OH, a son of the late John and Minnie (Rohrer) Johnstone, and was a life resident of Mineral City and Magnolia. Glen was a 1943 graduate of Magnolia High School. He retired Jan. 1, 1993 from the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co., after 47 years’ service, where he was Purchasing Manager. Following his retirement, he worked nine years for Sparta Steel. He was a member of Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Church. Glen proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Isaac L. Kinney American Legion Post #244 in East Sparta, which he served as Commander three times and had been Adjutant many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Kenneth, John, and Wesley Johnstone, Joan Eckert, and Naomi Blackmer. Glen is survived by his wife, Evelyn M. Johnstone, with whom he celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 1st, last year; a sister, Sybil Majors; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Church with Pastor Kenneth Hacker and his nephew, Pastor J. Richard Eckert officiating. Friends may call one half hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Western Reserve National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
