Faith L. (Smith) Shahan started her heavenly journey on Tues., December 5, 2023, surrounded by her closest family and friends following a seven-month battle with cancer. Faith was born to Rick and Jennifer (Bungard) Smith on July 30, 1993. She started her life a fighter as she survived a stroke at birth that affected her physical abilities. Despite those challenges, Faith thrived. She received unwavering care from the Shriner’s Hospital in Erie, PA, and went on to fulfill all her hopes and dreams during her 30 years of life.
In 2018 Faith married the man of her dreams, Jacob Shahan, and in 2019 she became a mother to Asher Colt. Being a mother was her favorite thing in the world, and her family will keep her memory alive for him forever. She was a woman of faith with endless love to give, especially to her family.
Faith was preceded in death by uncle, Brian Best, and maternal grandfather Rodney “Archie” Bungard. In addition to her parents, Faith is survived by her husband, Jacob, son Asher, brother Ricky, aunt Amy (Bungard) Best, cousins Zachary and Zyler Best, maternal grandparents Janice Bungard, and Dave Chociej, paternal grandparents Bob, Ruthie, and Nancy Smith, and her beloved fur baby, Nemo.
Faith would have wanted the world to remember her as someone who laughed constantly, loved music, loved Jesus, and had limitless kindness and empathy in her heart. Even during her most challenging moments, she was constantly praying for others – including a small circle of other women battling cancer whom she received support from in her final days.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 6pm on Friday, Dec. 15th at the Mineral City Methodist Church, doors will be open at 5pm.
