Dorothy J. Lutz
Age 94, of Canton, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023.  She was born March 17, 1929 in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. Guy and Alice (Malone) Smith, and had been a Canton resident most of her life.  Dorothy was retired from the May Company, previously as O’Neil’s, she had worked as a Bridal Consultant and sold fine jewelry.  She also worked for the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation and retired for the last time on her 90th birthday from the Giant Eagle at Washington Square.  Dorothy had been active as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and in Hall of Fame activities, during which she was one of the organizers of the HOF Style Show.  She had played Canton Rec League volleyball and softball, and was a poll worker for the Board of Elections for 25 years.  Dorothy especially enjoyed going to her condo in North Myrtle Beach with her family, and taking out her Red Corvette that only came out on nice days.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred L. Lutz, in 1993, a sister, Karen Whitcomb, a grandson, Matthew Fox, a great granddaughter, Sophia Capo, and a son-in-law, Chet “Butch” Fox.  Dorothy is survived by a daughter Julia Fox and her children, Brooke Brady and Lauren (Tony) Capo, a son, Joseph Lutz and his children, Joseph (Meagan) Lutz, II, and Cassie (Josh) Selby, and their daughter, Isabella; her great grandchildren, Thomas (Nicole) Brady, and Maryn and Anthony Capo; her great-great granddaughters, Jayde and Eliza Brady; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Dollie. 
Following cremation, a Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.  The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
