DORIS MITCHELL,
Age 91, of North Canton, passes away Wed, June 1 2022. She was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Iris (Campbell) Rose. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, David T. Mitchell and her grandson, Mitchell Killinger.
Doris had been a proud Canton resident all her life. She was a 1949 graduate of Lehman High school where she was the head majorette. She was a gymnast and dancer. She attended Bowling Green State University, and was a secretary at the Ohio Power Company but her most proud profession was housewife, mother and grandmother. She was active in her daughters and grandchildren’s lives as a girl scout leader, school volunteer, party planner and supporter of all they did. She was an amazing role model to her family, in which she devoted her life.
Her faith in God and service was evident in all she did. She raised her family with patience, prayer and positivity. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she and her husband served on many committees and help grow the church since 1965. She also was a member of the Legacy Chapter #596, Order of Eastern Star.
She and David loved to travel and saw most of Europe and the United States. Doris loved to play cards and was a member of many bridge clubs and poker clubs. She loved gardening and belonged to the Canton Garden Club. She moved to the Sanctuary Grande in 2017 and enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, exercise classes and reuniting with old friends but most of all the Friday happy hours.
Although she had many health hurdles over the years, she was always positive and upbeat. Always ready for a field trip or an adventure and would always have a smile!
Doris is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Bellamy (Canton), Diane Killinger (Canton), Denise (Brian) Fink (Naples, FL), five grandchildren and four great-children, Courtney Bellamy, and her children, Madison, Carson and Mila Butusov, Jessica (Devon) Tucker, and their daughter, Cora, Abby Killinger, Brandon and Tyler Fink, her brother-in-law, Don Koehnlein, three nieces, Kathy Thompson, Katy (Matt) Danner, Sue (Eric) Staub, two nephews, Greg (Cindy) Mitchell, Bob (Gwen) Mitchell, and many friends who she loved.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Sanctuary Grande and Aultman Hospices staff for their loving and amazing care given to Doris. You are truly angels for the work you do and the care you provide.
