Donald R. Babcock
Age 78, of Canton, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022. He was born Feb. 24, 1944 in Shinglehouse, PA, a son of the late Clarence and Emma (Babcock) Babcock, had resided in Canton three years, previously Waynesburg 41 years. He was a 1963 graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse, PA. He retired in 2010 from Quaker State Oil Co. after 40 years’ service as a truck driver. Don was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed cutting wood, watching hummingbirds, and listening to country music in the garage. He honorably served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Clarence Babcock, Jr. and Eva Bell. Don is survived by his wife, Linda S. (Haskins) Babcock, with whom he celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary Oct. 27th last year, two daughters and one son, Denice (Craig) Olander, Amy (Brian Jenkins) Babcock, and Charles Babcock, two granddaughters, Makayla and Courtney Dennis, one sister and two brothers, Eloise (Paul) Plant, Edward (Diane) Babcock, and James (Nancy) Babcock.
Services will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Lisa Elliott officiating. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. prior to the service, with Military Honors being held at 6 p.m. Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
