David T. May

Age 71, of Canton, entered the Gates of Heaven on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.  He was born June 22, 1950 in Tampa, FL, and had been a Canton resident most of his life. Dave was a 1968 graduate of Timken High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He held office in many capacities of the Disabled American Veterans as well as the Blinded Veterans of America.  Dave had a heart for all Vets and worked tirelessly to help in whatever area they needed.  He also accrued over 20,000 volunteer hours with the DAV and BVA.  Dave was a Past Department Commander of the DAV.  He served on a Local, State and National basis with the DAV and BVA.  His recent assignment was as a Commissioner with the Stark County Veterans Service Commission.

 He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christina S. May, two daughters, Amy Paar and Lisa May, granddaughter, Risa Paar, his sweet pup, Maggie, who watched over her Daddy, a brother-in-law, Tim (Barb) Klink, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne (Meyers) May and sister, Linda Boswell, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Norma Klink, grandparents, William and Lillian Horton, and son-in-law, Dan Paar.

 As per Dave’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.  The family would like to thank all the caring team from Aultman Hospice.  Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. As we all know, Dave would end by saying, “Ya Gotta Keep Smiling”!
