Clyde L. Roberts
Age 97, of Canton, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born April 15, 1925 in Robyville, OH, a son of the late John and Emma (Brown) Roberts, and had been a Canton resident since 1947. Clyde was a 1943 graduate of Adena High School. He was retired from U. S. Steel after 33 years, where he was a lathe operator, and following retirement he worked at Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home over 30 years. He was a member of Dueber Church where he sang in the choir 32 years and served as a Trustee. He was a member of SPEBQSA. Clyde was a 54 year member of Trinity Lodge #710, F. & A.M., which he served as Master in 1979-80 and was Secretary 33 years, and a 51 year member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers. Clyde is survived by his wife, Betty Roberts, with whom he celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary June 6th last year; two daughters and one son, Joan (Mike) Black, of Canton, Patti Rinaldi, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mark (Lucie) Roberts, of Westerville, OH; seven grandchildren, Adam (Becky) Roberts, Megan (Mark) Thewes, Mike Black, Andy (Margot) Black, Corey Black, Chelsee Rinaldi and Tommie Smail, and Nick Rinaldi and fiancee Kat Martin; and ten great grandchildren.
Private services by invitation only will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Harris officiating. Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 5:45 p.m. Wed. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
