William K. Wallace 1920 – 2017
Age 97, of Canton, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Massillon, a son of the late Craig and Ruth (Shanover) Wallace, and had been a Canton resident since 1952. Bill was a 1938 graduate of Massillon Washington High School, attended Miami University at Oxford, and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1947 with a Degree in Biological Science. He was a member of the Alumni Group of Beta Theta Pi. Bill retired in 1984 from Diebold Inc., after 37 years' service, where he was a Sales Administrator. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Supt., and on numerous committees over the years, and was a member and President of the Cal-Pre-Chu Sunday school class. He also was a 70 year member of Clinton Lodge #47, F. & A.M. Bill served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Don Wallace and Janet Angerman. He is survived by his wife, Mildred "Midge" Wallace, with whom he would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on March 5th; one daughter and one son, Sue Wallace and William Wallace, Jr., both of Canton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Wallace and her son, Wynn Schuring, and Erin and Greg Goss, and their son, Lucas. Services will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon funeral Home with Rev. Sue Ann Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills memory gardens. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 237 W. Maple St., North Canton, OH 44720.
