Obituary

WILLIAM H. "BUFFALO" STAATS, Age 72, of Canton, passed away suddenly Sat. afternoon. Born a son of the late Eugene Staats and Ruth Kark, he had been a life resident of Canton. Bill was a 1957 graduate of Lehman High School and retired in 1999 from the Hoover Co. after 33 years service as a repairman. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and was an avid bowler and golfer. Preceded in death by his son, Larry Staats, in 2003. Survived by his wife, Sandra (Woods) Staats with whom he would have celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 30; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Guy and Serena Staats, of Forest Park, GA, and Doug Staats, of Canton; one daughter-in-law, Heather Staats, of Canton; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Beth and Chuck Goodchild, of Canton, Louise Staats, of Rootstown, and Nancy Hormell, of Salineville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Patricia Staats, of Princeton, MN, and Mike and Robin Kark, of Martinsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Hannah, Trinity and Aurora Staats; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Snyder officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tues. from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's name may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1525 Shorb Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44703.
