William R. Serafini
Age 80, of Waynesburg, passed away Friday morning in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. He was born in Waynesburg, a son of the late Louis and Laura Albert Serafini, and was a life resident. Bill was a 1946 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He was retired from Whitacre-Greer Fireproofing Co. in Waynesburg, where he worked in the Shipping Dept. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Bill was an avid Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed sports and played football, basketball and track at Waynesburg High School, and was a member of the basketball team that played in the State Tournament in Springfield in 1946. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by brothers Samuel and Joseph Serafini, and also Carol Ann, Delores, Dickie, and Joan Serafini. Survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and George Miller, of Waynesburg; his brother Robert Serafini and Ann Nader, of Waynesburg; his aunt, Mary Hawley, of North Canton; two nephews and one niece, Jim and Mary Serafini, Karen and Lee Thomas, and Ryan and Mariah Miller; three great-nephews and one great-niece, Tyler Thomas, Rocco and Nickie Serafini, and Brenna Miller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Zamary as Celebrant. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 6-9 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. The family would like to express their appreciation and special thanks to his nephew, Jim Serafini, the staff of Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar, and to Dr. Harry McDonnell, for the love and care they gave to Bill.
