William V. Lofdahl
Age 73, of Canton, passed away Friday evening in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born in Duluth, MN, a son of the late Leroy W. and Jeannette Herbert Lofdahl, and returned to Canton in 2000 after residing in Orlando, FL 25 years. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Green Bay East High School, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He also received his Masters Degree in English from Stanford University. He was still employed as a Sales Representative for Precision Charts, Inc. based in Long Island, NY. Bill was a long-time member of Pine Castle Lodge #368, F. & A.M. in Orlando, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Orlando, and Bahia Shrine in Orlando. He was a very talented drummer, and recorded professionally with several groups, including Sarah Vaughn and Stan Kenton. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis and played with the Fifth Army Band and the President's Band. Preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Dawn L. Lofdahl, on Nov. 1, 2005. Survived by his son, Manny Lofdahl, of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Becky Lofdahl, of Estero, FL, and Herbert and Charlee Lofdahl, of Kissimmee, FL; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Linda and Ted Anthony, of Massillon. In honoring Bill's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
