Walton W. Barnes
Age 83, of Canton, passed away Thursday afternoon in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Farr, CO, a son of the late Goble and Annie May (Prince) Barnes, and had been a Canton resident since 1993. Walt retired in 1991 from Signal Delivery, after 26 years service, where he was a truck driver. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the North Industry Sportsman's Club. Preceded in death by two grandsons, Patrick Barnes and Devon Dollarhide. Survived by his wife, Anne E. Barnes, with whom he celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 5, 2013; four daughters and a son-in-law, Katherine Barnes, of Houma, LA, Carolyn and Achintya Haldar, of Tuscan, AZ, Diane Cunningham, of Winston Salem, NC, and Peggy Hershell, of Canton; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven Barnes, of Lincoln, VT, Raymond Barnes, of Houma, LA, and Richard and Sharon Barnes, of Springfield, IL; one sister, Mona Hall, of Granite City, IL; one brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Claudette Barnes, of Owensboro, KY; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. E. Wayne Cummings officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Walt's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 1006 Grant St., Akron, OH 44311.
