Obituary

Verl Z. Reed Age 84, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday evening in Oakhill Manor. He was born in Waynesburg, resided in Mapleton most of his life, and Waynesburg since 1998. Verl was a 1947 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He retired from TRW where he was a sandblaster, and previously worked at Stark Ceramic 16 years. Verl was a member of the North Industry Coon Hunters Club, and the Mapleton Gun Club, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 58 years, Margaret L. Reed, on April 12, 2009, three brothers and a sister, Donald, Virgil, and Ray Reed, Jr., and Viola Kail. Survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Reed, of Mapleton, and Robert Reed, of Waynesburg; one grandson, Alex Reed, of New Philadelphia, and two step-grandsons, Brent and Bret Bowers, of Perry Township; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and Larry Cross, of East Canton, Evely Leichtamer and Linda Young, of Magnolia; three brothers, Jim Reed, of Magnolia, Harold Reed, of Robertsville, and Ralph Reed, of Waynesburg. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Mapleton Cemetery with Rev. Robert Linsz officiating. There are no calling hours.
