Velma E. Evans Age 98, a resident of the Canton Christian Home, passed away there Sunday, March 29th. She was born in Salineville, OH, a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Toban Hetherington, and had been a Canton resident since 1938. Velma had been a nanny for many children of good families for over 25 years. She was a member of First Friends Church and the Canaries Sewing Group. Preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur W. Cox, in 1959, and John W. Evans, in 1982, and three brothers, Howard, Samuel and Orville Hetherington. Survived by several nieces and nephews, including Charles Hetherington and his wife, Helen, of Salineville; and her special friends, Allen and Janice Bordine, of Canton, and Bonnie Bogue, of Massillon. Services will be conducted Monday, April 6th, at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Pastor Philip DiSabatino, Jr. officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery in Louisville.
