Thomas Phillip Jones Age 72, of Canton, passed away Wed. afternoon in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Thomas P. and Emma (Finley) Jones, and was a life resident. Phil was a 1957 graduate of McKinley High School. He retired in June of 2003 from Diebold Inc., after 43 years service, where he was an electrical assembler. Following his retirement he worked at Sam's Club for almost five years. Phil was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, a long- time member of the former Lathrop Lodge #676, F. & A.M., which he served as Master twice, and as Secretary for 23 years, and now a member of Canton Lodge #60, F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Nazir Grotto, and Delta Chapter #539, Order of Eastern Star. He served in the U. S. Navy. Preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kathryn Kepler. Survived by his wife, Dorothea "Cookie" Jones, with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary on June 18th; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Rev. Dr. Scott Strohm, of Marysville, OH, and Kim and Kent Smith, of Canton; one sister, Martha Leese, of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter, Rachel Strohm and her daughter, Grace Lee Hedges, Anna Strohm, Christian Smith and Emily Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Mr. Magoo. Services will be held Wed. at 10:30 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Gifford officiating. Interment in Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 1:30 p.m. following a luncheon in the funeral home Family Center. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
