Susan E. Sponseller

Age 79, of North Canton, passed away Sat., June 22, 2024.  She was born August 22, 1944 in Canton, a daughter of the late George B. and Ada (Larsen) Bate II, and was a life resident of this area.  Sue was a 1962 graduate of Glenwood High School.  She was a long-time employee of Easterday's Flower and Gift Shop and then began teaching floral design and horticulture at Jackson High School.  Sue was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Thomas C. Sponseller, on August 29, 2013, and a brother, George Bate III. Sue is survived by two daughters and a son, Kathy and Mohan Rajaratnam, Chris and Bob Klaiber, and David (Shawn Wilker) Sponseller; four grandchildren, Taylor Klaiber, Logan Klaiber, Cole Rajaratnam, and Madison Rajaratnam.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11 a.m., in St. Peters Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Dr. David M. Misbrener, Pastor, and Fr. Tom Bishop as Concelebrant.  There are no calling hours but following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be held at the North Canton Eagles, 6979 Sunset Strip Ave. N.W., from 2-6 p.m.  Interment will be with her husband in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sue's memory may be made to Meadow Wind Health Care Center, 300 23rd St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646.  For those of you wishing to send flowers, please have them sent to the North Canton Eagles.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
