Samuel Arthur Duerr
Age 95, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday morning in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sandyville, a son of the late Samuel and Nannie Brown Duerr, and was a life resident of the Magnolia area. Arthur retired in 1981 from Sandy Valley Local Schools, after 22 years service, where he was a custodian at Magnolia Elementary School and Sandy Valley High School. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Magnolia. Arthur had served in the U. S. Naval Reserve during World War II. Preceded in death by his wife, Leona E. Duerr, on Oct. 18, 1995, three brothers and one sister, Stanley, Lawrence and Howard Duerr, and Bernice Bordner. Survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Gary Black, of East Sparta, Sondra Duerr and Barbara Duerr Swier, both of Magnolia; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kathy Duerr, of Canton; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his faithful cat, Belle. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Magnolia with Pastor J. Andrew Riggs officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia and Friday 10-11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Duerr's memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 464, Magnolia, OH 44643.
