Sally Hobdy,
79, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2026, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Sally was born on November 9, 1946, in Canton, Ohio, to Arthur and Lucille Guthrie. Sally lived a life defined by love and laughter with her family. Sally attended Canton South High School but spent her last 2 years of high school at Louisville High School, where she graduated. After high school, Sally pursued a career with the telephone company, Ohio Bell, as a telephone operator. She was also an avid bowler back in the day. When Sally retired from the phone company, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers in her yard. She spent several summers working for Dumont Seed Company, tending to the flowers and vegetable plants they sold. She just loved digging in the dirt! Sally is survived by her children John (Robin) Hobdy, Janet (Brian) Hill, and Joanne Williams (John); her grandchildren Miranda Hobdy, Autumn Williams, Jason Hill, Jacob Williams, Julia Hill, Kasey Williams and Josie Hill; great grandchild Maverick; and her brothers Arthur, Donald, and Frank. Sally is also survived by her dear significant other, David Williams. Sally and David shared many happy, silly, and love-filled moments with each other. Sally is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Joe Hobdy, and her parents Arthur and Lucille Guthrie. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rosie, Dee, and Autumn who helped to lovingly care for Sally the past 6 weeks. Additionally, thank you to Seth, Kimmie, Rhonda, and Therese of Affinity Hospice for their compassionate support and gentle care. Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Thursday in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home in Canton. Friends may call from 11am-12pm. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://donorservices.Alzheimer's Association .
