RUTH MAE SMITLEY,

96, Our Beloved Mother, went to Heaven on May 6, 2015.  She was formerly of Strasburg, daughter of Clarence and Alesta Middaugh.  Born on April 17, 1919. Ruth was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Louis H. Smitley and son, Rodney L. Smitley. She graduated in 1938 from Strasburg High and was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Sandyville.  Ruth worked for Garver Brothers in Strasburg as a young girl and also at Stolls in North Industry working in the bakery decorating cakes.  She also made several wedding cakes for local families.  She enjoyed flower arranging, cake decorating, and cooking for the family. She is survived by three daughters, Janet (Steve) Phillips of Navarre, Pam (Robert) Beans of Louisville, Taffy (Don) Warstler of Massillon, Son William (Terry) Tomer of Zoar and one sister, Jean Moran of Strasburg. Ruth was blessed with five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Per her wishes, she has been cremated and services will be held at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, located at Crossroads, corner of Rt. 800 and Rt. 183. Mark Weaver, her grandson will perform the service on Monday May 11, 2015, calling hours at 12:00 Noon, service at 1:00 PM.
