Ruth E. Myers

Age 89, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Dover, OH, a daughter of the late John and Edna (Duerr) Hanni, and had been an East Sparta resident since 1955.  Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School.  She was retired from the U. S. Ceramic Tile Co. in East Sparta, after 50 years service, where she was a fork lift operator.  Ruth was a member of East Sparta United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler for many years.  She enjoyed playing euchre with family and friends and at the East Sparta Community Building, and bingo at St. James and Central Catholic.  But mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, watching her grandchildren play sports, and getting together at holidays.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jay Myers, on Oct. 17, 2006, a sister, Wilma Schneider, and two brothers, Willard and Oliver Hanni.  Ruth is survived by two daughters and one son, Lynn (Gary) Bryan, of Newcomerstown, Susie (Bob) Marraccini, of Canton, and Ron (Debbie) Myers, of Canton, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She loved all her cats and dogs.  A private burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.  A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held Sat. at 1 p.m.  in East Sparta United Methodist Church with Pastor Peggy Garner officiating.  A luncheon will immediately follow in the church Fellowship Hall.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to either East Sparta United Methodist Church, P.O.
