Ruth E. Gaston
Age 80, of Canton, passed away Monday morning in Aultman Hospital. She was born in Harrison County, OH, a daughter of the late Arthur and Erma Gotschall Baker, and had been a Canton resident most of her life. Ruth was a 1948 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. She retired in 1988 from Graber Mills, after 25 years service, where she was a bookkeeper. Previously she had worked at Ohio Bell as an operator. Ruth enjoyed the Bell Girls luncheons, and was an avid sports fan. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gaston, in 2000, and a brother and sister, Sherman Baker and Edith Passmore. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Kenneth Forester, and two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Patricia Gaston and Douglas and Cindy Gaston, all of Canton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Jenna Gaston, Michael Gaston, Shannan Stewart and her daughter, Alexis, Crisiva Varner, and her children, Tatianna, Dharma, and Carter, and Taylor Stokes; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Ardith Baker, of Massillon; and a sister-in-law, Fern Baker, of Manchester. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with her nephew, Elder Keith Crum, officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park following cremation. Friends may call Wed. 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
