ROY T. COLLIER, Age 71, of East Sparta, passed away Thur. morning in Mercy Medical Center. Born in New Boston, OH, a son of the late Roy Collier and Lillian (Finley) Collier, of Canton, he grew up in Canton and had lived in East Sparta for 33 years. Roy attended Canton South High School, served with the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the Timken Co. in 1991 after 30 years service as a railroad mechanic. He was a former member of Reedurban V.F.D., a member of East Sparta V.F.D., where he served as Assistant Chief, a life member of the Tuscarawas County Firefighters Association, and one of the first E.M.T.s in Ohio. Preceded in death by his ex-wife, Jenny, and a daughter, Linda Mather. Survived by his wife, Nancy Collier, with whom he would have celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary on July 2nd; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teri and Doug Carpenter, of New Philadelphia, and Kimberly and John Moore, of Boone, IA; two sons, Timothy Collier, of Wadsworth, and David Collier and his fiance, Shannon French, of Sandyville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judith Garrett and Donna and Tom Stallings, all of Canton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert and Rita Collier and Ronald Collier, all of Canton; and ten grandchildren and one great grandson. Funeral and Firemen's services will be conducted Sun. at 3 p.m. in Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruthann Bosley officiating. Interment in Asbury Cemetery.
