Friends and family throughout the Northeast are mourning the loss of Rosanne (McFarland) Woods after her death on October 6, 2026. Rosanne was the oldest of six children born to the late Joseph Michael and Mary (McLaughlin) McFarland in Pittston, PA. She was a 1957 graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston and a 1961 graduate of Marywood University in Scranton.

A life-long educator, Rosanne began her teaching career as a 2nd grade teacher in Belle Meade, NJ. At a holiday party on the eve of 1966, she met her future husband, Canton resident Terry K. Woods. Eight months later they were married.

After moving to Ohio, Rosanne taught in Salem school district. She stepped back from her career to raise her five children. However, she never fully left teaching, becoming a substitute in the Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Schools. As her children grew, she went back to teaching full-time with Massillon City Schools and evenings with Canton City ABLE Program.

Rosanne gave back to the community in numerous ways. She was an active parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic church where she served as a eucharistic minister and part of their H.O.P.E. ministry. She also a member of Quota International of Canton.

Throughout her life, Rosanne made deep friendships. Years and distance never seemed to weaken them. In her final days she was visited by friends from her days in Pittson, New Jersey and Ohio. She left a deep impression that her family hopes continues even in death.

She will be met in heaven by those who went before her, most notably her parents, her brother, Thomas McFarland Sr., and her husband. She is survived by her five children: Susan (Mike) Cammel, Kevin (Michelle) Woods, John Woods, all of Canton, as well as Bob (Leslie) Woods of Cincinnati and Katie (Jeremy) McIntyre of Gainesville, FL; her siblings: Joseph (Andrea) McFarland, Joan (Bruce) Stauffer, James McFarland, and Marianne Ferreti; 9 grandchildren, dozens of nieces and nephews and many godchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tues., October 13, 2026, at 11 AM in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Fr. Benson Okpara as Celebrant. Friends may call Mon. 5-7 PM at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
