RONALD E. "SMITTY" SMITH, Age 71, of Canton, passed away Sun. afternoon in Aultman Hospital. Born in Martins Ferry, OH, a son of the late Henry and Wanda Hutkowski Smith, he had been a resident of Canton most of his life. Smitty retired in 2000 from Republic Steel Corp. after over 30 years service where he was in the custodial department. He was an avid golfer and really loved to play and help others learn to play and obsessively worked to perfect his swing. Preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Smith, on Feb. 22, 2010. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Steven Kramer, of Cuyahoga Falls; one son, Jason Smith, of Canton; he was a really devoted grandpa to his two grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jordan Kramer; and one sister whom he really loved and admired, Barbara Meehan, of Louisville. A private Celebration of his life for family and close friends will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Smitty's name may be made to the American Heart Association.
