Ronald L. "The Dude" Prosperi
Age 55, of East Sparta, passed away Sat. evening, April 23, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dennison, OH, a son of Russell Prosperi, of Dover, and the late Dorothy Maxwell Harper, and had been a resident of the Sandy Valley area 42 years. Ron was a 1974 graduate of Sandy Valley High School. He was a retired Assistant Manager of Advanced Auto at Canton South, and previously worked at the Times Reporter, DLH Industries and Cable Mfg. & Assembly at Bolivar. He was a member of Sandy Valley Eagles. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Most of all, Ron loved stock car racing at Midvale Speedway and was a Main Event Series Official. He was involved in racing as a car owner, driver, and most notably as scorekeeper at Midvale Speedway for years. Preceded in death by a special aunt and uncle, Charles and Mary Watkins. Surviving besides his father is his wife, Marcia J. Prosperi, with whom he celebrated their 34th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 30, 2010; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Heather Prosperi, of Canton, and Brian and Sarah Prosperi, of New Philadelphia; two sisters, Thea and Art Huntsberger, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Lisa and Mike Richards, of Thornville, OH; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Rose Prosperi, of Dover, and Mike and Christine Melville, of St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers-in-law, Mike Devine and his wife, Linda, of Dover, and Mark Devine, of East Sparta; two grandsons, Domenic Prosperi and soon to be born, Mason Prosperi. Services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Peggy Garner officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Wed. 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
