Ronald P. (Babe) Newland

Age 80, of Canton, passed away Wed., Dec. 21, 2022. He was born Feb. 18, 1942 in Canton, a son of the late Francis and Dorothy (Dillon) Newland, and step-mother, Mary Alice (Crowther) Newland, and was a life resident.  Babe was retired from Custom Auto Body where he painted cars as well as airplanes.  He enjoyed old cars starting from when he came home from the service in California, and bought a 1950 Ford and drove it home to Canton.  Babe honorably served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Tausch and a baby brother, Edward.  Babe is survived by his wife, Linda L. Newland, with whom he celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary on April 28th, four children, Laura (Pete) McLaughlin, Jennifer (Brian) Villono, Kimberly Newland (Cecil Newell III), and Ronald Newland; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Smith, Cathy Krach, and Margie Newland, and two brothers, Frederick Newland, and Eugene Newland.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Amy Downard, Celebrant, officiating.  Friends may call Wed. 6-8 p.m.  Interment will be in Warstler Cemetery with Military Honors.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
