Obituary

Ronald L. Adkins

Age 74, of Magnolia, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 3, 2024.  He was born June 25, 1949 in Canton, a son of the late Estel and Vadah (Secrest) Adkins, Sr., and was a life resident of the Waynesburg/Magnolia area.  Ron was a 1968 graduate of Sandy Valley High School.  He was retired from HP Products in Louisville where he worked in Quality Control, previously working over twenty years at Colfor.  Following his retirement, he maintained the Fellowship Hall of the Little Country Church.  He was a very active member of the Fellowship of The Little Country Church.  Ron proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ryan Adkins, on Dec. 14, 2013, and a brother, Jim Adkins.  Ron is survived by his wife, Frances A. (Keeton) Adkins, with whom he celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on Jan. 15th; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ronald (Jannette) Adkins II; eight grandchildren, Ronald III, Nathaniel, Elijah, and Madison Adkins, Casey (Wyatt) Garabrandt, and their daughter, Ryan, Morgan Adkins, Sarah Adkins & Gaven Sandy, and their son, Nathan, and Emily Adkins; one sister and one brother, Barbara Adkins and JR (Joan) Adkins.

Services will be held Monday at 1p.m. in the Little Country Church with Pastor Ted Knapp officiating.  Friends may call Monday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before the service.  Interment will be in Bowman Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron's memory may be made to the Little Country Church.

In 2001, Ron repented and confessed his sins, and the Lord forgave him and changed him completely.  His final fourteen months were a difficult battle with cancer, in which he was confined to his home.  More importantly, he was able to draw even closer to the Lord as he soaked in time with the Savior, which time he called "his sabbatical".  Ron's final challenge to all his grandkids was "Trust in the Lord!  Keep Jesus first, and we will meet again in Heaven."
