ROD E. MEARS,

Age 76, of Canton, passed away Wed., Apr. 4, 2018 in his residence.  Born in Canton, a son of the late Arthur and Valerie (Schwab) Mears, he had been a life resident of Canton.  Rod was a 1960 Graduate of Glenwood High School and retired from the Xerox Corp. after 34 years service where he was a technical specialist.  Previously he had worked at the Hoover Co. where he was an electrician and also was a self-employed electrical repairman.  Rod was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church where he was a longtime youth group advisor for over 30 years and served as chairman of the Camp Wakonda Committee for a number of years.  Survived by his wife, Suzanne (Gaston) Mears, with whom he would have celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this July 16th; one daughter, Randi Mears; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Bobbi Mears; two grandchildren, Rachael and Ryan; and his stepbrother, Dwayne and Barb Walker.  Services will be held Fri. at 11 a.m. in Christ Presbyterian Church.  Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may call Thur. from 6-8 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
