Obituary

Rodney G. Carling

Age 53, of Zoarville, passed away Wed., April 9, 2014, in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Canton and resided most of his life in Tuscarawas County, except for one year in Jackson Township, where he graduated in 1978 from Jackson High School.  Rod was a former employee of Sandy Township and helped take care of the cemeteries.  He was a member of the Tuscarawas County Dart Association, an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing softball and darts.  He also enjoyed coaching his grandchildren's sports.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Carling, on Feb. 9, 2013.  Survived by his wife, Karen S. (Pullins) Carling; three daughters, Nicole (Jeremy) Morris, of Lake Milton, OH, Stacie Metcalf and Susan Sears, both of Mineral City; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; his mother, Shirley Carling, of Bolivar; and one brother, Richard Carling, of CT.  Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in German Cemetery with Pastor Clifford Hughes and Stacie Metcalf, Minister, officiating.  Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Fairfield Township and Mineral City Volunteer Fire Departments  for all they did to help Rodney over the years.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in  Rodney's memory may be made to his family.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
