Robert F. Souers
Age 74, of Mineral City, passed away Sat. morning, Oct.1, 2011, in Park Village. He was born in Dover, a son of the late George and Minnie Hanenkrat Souers, and had been a Mineral City resident most of his life. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Mineral City High School. He retired in 2000 from Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools, after 10 years service, where he worked in the Janitorial Dept. Previously he worked many years for R & J Furniture in Canton where he was a wood finisher and setup repairman. Bob was a member of Mineral City United Methodist Church, Carr-Bailey American Legion Post #539 in Mineral City, and the former Dover Elks. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping. Bob served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Pauline J. Souers, on Sept. 13, 2004, and a daughter, Kimberly Boyd, on June 22, 2010. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Mike Rabes, of Strasburg; a son-in-law, Scott Boyd, of Mineral City; three step-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Gary Finnicum, of Canton; and his special friend, Pat Dischinger, of Bolivar. Services will be held on Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Pastor Bob Smith officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville with Military Honors. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to either Mineral City United Methodist Church, or Carr-Bailey American Legion Post #539 in Mineral City.
