ROBERT L. SMITH, Age 72, of Dover, passed away Sun. evening in Union Hospital. Born a son of the late Harold and Minnie Kline Smith, he had been a life resident of the Dover and New Philadelphia area. He retired from Wal-Mart as a greeter and previously worked at Diebold Inc. and MNB Operating. Robert served with the U.S Army Reserves and as a Deputy Sheriff with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Dept. Preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Roger Smith, a sister, Dottie Romig and a niece, Rena Romig. Survived by his wife, Connie Smith, with whom he would have celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary on Aug. 8th, 2009; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and James Sickels, of Mineral City, Rebecca and Jeff Draher, of Minerva, and Pat and Jim Zurfley, of Mineral City; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Sandy Smith, of Barnhill, OH, Bobby and Linda Scharnock, of Pineville, LA, Mark and Abby Smith, of GA, and Chris Smith, of Marietta, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Kenneth Hicks, of Fruitland Park, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Norma Smith, of Louisville, OH; and 23 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be conducted Fri. at 11 a.m. in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia with Rev. Christopher Rhodes officiating. Interment in New Cumberland Cemetery.
