Robert E. "Bob" Smith
Age 65, of Magnolia, passed away Sat., Feb. 25, 2012, in Aultman Hospital. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Leroy and Nellie (Tolliver) Smith, and had been a Magnolia resident since 1985. Bob was a 1964 graduate of McKinley High School, and also a graduate of the first class of the Stark County Paramedic Program in 1976. He retired in 2001, after 32 years service, as a Canton Firefighter on the Third Shift. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He also was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Smith. Survived by his wife, Kim A. (Nicholson) Smith, with whom he celebrated their 28th Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 30th; one daughter, Kimberly Rayner, of Canton; one son, Jeff Smith, and his fiancee, Heather, of Canton; five grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Ken Rusher, of Massillon; his in-laws, Don and Shirley Nicholson, of Magnolia; four nieces and one nephew. According to Bob's wishes he has been cremated. Friends may call Wed. 5-8 p.m.at the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia. A Last Alarm Service will be held at 8 p.m. Wed. followed by a funeral service at 8:15 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey E. Bullock officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the National Wild Turkey Federation, PO Box 53 D, Edgefield, SC 29824-053 D, or to the donor's favorite charity.
