Robert G. Osgood
Age 88, of North Canton, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Philadelphia, a son of the late Frank and Maude Rhodes Osgood, was a longtime resident of North Canton, resided in Ocklawaha, FL from 1986 until March of this year when he returned to North Canton. Robert was a 1941 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He retired in 1983 from Republic Steel Corp. after 42 years service. Robert was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Preceded in death by his wives, Juanita (Ward) Osgood, on Oct. 2, 1984, and Mary Frances (Horn) Osgood, on Oct. 3, 1998, a son-in-law, Francis "Frank" Okey, four brothers and three sisters. Survived by two daughters, Linda Okey, of North Canton, and Glenda Osgood, of Massillon; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren, Rachel Lemmon and her children, Austin and Kiley, of Navarre. Services will be conducted Wed. at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. David Harmon officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park with Military Honors. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8 p.m. Contributions in Mr. Osgood's memory may be made to the Mission Fund of the Canton Baptist Temple, Hammers & Nails, or the donor's favorite charity.
