Robert O. "Bob" Hester, Sr.,

Age 88, of East Sparta, passed away Mon., July 28, 2025.  He was born June 4, 1937, in Strasburg, OH, a son of the late Riley and Mae (Wilson) Hester.  Bob retired from the City of Canton Water Pollution Control Center as a Millwright Mechanic.  He also worked part time as a custodian at Sandy Valley Elementary School and at PetSmart in the fish department.  Bob served with the U.S. Air Force and loved to golf, bowl and fish.  Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brienne, seven sisters, Alma Wilson, Mildred Schuster, Myrtle Mosteler, Twila Peoples, Hazel Roush, Grace Dean, and Roberta Leapline, and two brothers, Clarence and Binum Hester.  Survived by his wife, Denise (Austin) Hester; one daughter, Christina (Don) Gutcher; five sons, Robert (Carol) Hester, Jr., James (Brenda) Hester, Joseph (Joy) Hester, Nicholas (Melissa) Owens, and Christopher (Dawn) Owens; and sixteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  A Memorial Service will be held Mon. at 10 am in the Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home in Magnolia.  Interment in St. Peter Cemetery in Canton.  Friends may call Mon. one hour before the service, from 9-10 am.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name may be made to: Save A Mom Pet Rescue, 1271 Downing St. SW, East Sparta, OH  44626.  Condolences may be left at: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com.
