IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Harper
May 15, 1962 – December 23, 2022
Robert C. Harper,
It was May 15, 1962 when Robert C. Harper came into the world, and it was on Dec 23, 2022 the world felt his passing. Survived by his daughter Shyla Harper, brother Patrick Harper, sister Donna Cole (Gregg), sister in-law Sharon Harper (Mike) and many be-loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob is off to join his mother and father Helen and Lauren Harper, his brother, James "Mike" Harper, and sister Darlene Christian in Heaven.
Anyone who knew Bob, knew he never went as Robert and enjoyed using the handle "Political Bob". He spent much of his leisure time at the American Legion Post #44 watching the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes and enjoying Keno.
Bob was an active member in the community working with the Stark County Veterans Commission for many years, coordinating countless events including, Memorial Day parade, Monumental Fourth Fireworks, and Veterans Day Commemoration. He followed in his Mother's footsteps by working with Veterans in honor of his uncle, Robert Elder.
He was a 1980 Graduate of Timken High School, and after working for Hakky Inc., in the shoe repair industry, as a trainer and then franchisee in Erie PA, he returned to Canton to help his mother and was employed at Timken Steel. He was active in the USW Golden Lodge Local Union 1123, serving as Vice President, before becoming President for six years (2016-2022). While working at Timken, Bob strived to help his Union Brothers and Sisters to a better life.
Bob had a big heart, always helping those around him and any animals his daughter would bring home. His plans where to retire and re-open Harpers Shoe Service with his daughter, Shyla. He was an extraordinary Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. There was no one else quite like him. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held Wed., Jan. 4, 2023 at 6 pm in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Friends may call two hours before the service, from 4-6 pm.
