Richard C. "Rick" Miller
Age 43, of Canton, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 28, 2011, in the Cleveland Clinic after a brief illness. He was born in Murray, KY, and had been a Canton resident all his life. Rick was a 1986 graduate of Perry High School, where he played football and maintained a lifelong friendship with his football buddies, attended Ohio State University four years, and Malone University one year. He was a former employee of Indalex Mfg. in Girard, OH. He was a lifelong Catholic and had an affiliation with his family at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rick was active at the Center Ice sports complex with his sons in the Canton-Akron Hockey Association. He was a sports enthusiast and outdoorsman and loved to go fishing, boating and camping with his sons, and was a devoted fan of the Indians, Browns, and Buckeyes. Preceded in death by his father, Richard S. Miller, on Nov. 29, 2010, and his grandparents, Charles F. and Mary (Marzich) May, and Stanley and Emma (Flagg) Miller. Survived by the most precious people in his life, his sons, Richard T. "Ricky" and Jacob C. "Jake" Miller, who were the love of his life; also survived by his mother and step-father, Sandie (May) and Dennis Westhoefer, of Canton; his sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and Christopher Dye, and their children, Sydnie, Nicholas and Lucas Dye, of Jackson Township; a devoted aunt and uncle, Patty and Gregory Kiefer, of Massillon; two cousins, Greg (Gretchen) Kiefer and Todd Kiefer, all of Columbus; his devoted and loving partner, Robin Rowland, of Warren, OH; Rick's best friend from high school and college, Chris (Stacy) Mowery, of Cleveland, and a good friend, Joe McCarty, of Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Cebula as Celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
