Richard J. Herbert

Age 86, of Canton, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born Feb. 14, 1936 in Canton, a son of the late John and Pauline (Habrun) Herbert, and was a life resident.  Richard retired in 1998 from Logan Trucking where he was a truck driver.  He had been a member of Sandy Valley Church of God where he was the sound technician and taught Sunday school for many years.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister and brother, Jeannette Herbert and Ronald Herbert.  He is survived by his wife, Carole J. Herbert, with whom he celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 22nd, three daughters and one son, Tammy Carrico, Melissa (Joseph) Collier, Joy Dawn (Joseph) Hester, and Richard A. Herbert, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother, Linda (Gary) Weaver and Kenneth (Sally) Herbert, and a sister-in-law, Sandra Herbert.

Services will be held Monday, Jan.23, 2023, at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary Church of God with Pastor Steve Stewart officiating.  Friends may call Monday 11 a.m.-12 Noon at the church before the service.  Interment will be in Melscheimer Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to: www.gordonfuneralhomes.com
