Raymond E. Dean 1933-2015
Age 82, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015. He was born in Weirton, WV, a son of the late Arthur and Rose (Fox) Dean, and had been a Canton resident most of his life. Ray was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service after over 30 years service as a letter carrier. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and a 30 year member of McKinley Eagles #2370. Ray also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center for several years. He had served in the U. S. Navy. While delivering the mail on Jan. 9, 1996, Ray saved the life of a woman who had fallen down her basement steps, and his fellow postal workers honored him at the Newmarket Station. Survived by his wife, Sandra K. Dean, with whom he would have celebrated their 39th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 5th; six children, including, Shelley (Jeff) Hanze, Leslie Hanlin, and Scot (Sherrie) Dean, of Canton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held Sat. at 2 p.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev. Jeffrey L. Shultz officiating.
