Portia L. Hively

Age 103, of Canton, passed away Sat., April 11, 2015, at The Inn at Belden Village.  She was born in Jeromesville, OH, a daughter of the late Montpelia and Myrtle (Griffin) Goard, and resided in Canton since 1935, previously Alliance.  Portia was a 1929 graduate of Alliance High School.  She had worked in the Women's Dept. of the former Stern & Mann Dept. Store for a number of years, and also did reweaving in her home for many years.  She had been a member of the former Christ United Methodist Church at 35th St. and N. Cleve. Ave.  Portia was a member of Legacy Chapter #596, Order of Eastern Star.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arthur L. Hively, on Sept. 8, 1995. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Leslie Hively, and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher Hively, all of Wilmington, NC.  Services will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Rev.
