Phyllis A. Ring Age 84, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in the Inn at University Commons. She was born in Canton, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Snavely) Swallow, and was a life resident until moving to Massillon in August of 2008. Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of McKinley High School. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 40 years, and also had been the hairdresser for Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home for 35 years. Phyllis was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and the McKinley Alumni Association. Preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George Norman Swallow, and her sister, Mary Garmus. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie (John) Frate, of Massillon; two sons, Mark Anderson, of Phoenix, AZ, and Tom Ring, of Louisville, and a step-son, Gordon (Lois) Ring, of Massillon; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Marc (Dianna) Anderson and their children, Peyton and Sedona, Ashley Ring and her son, Kylan, Amy Ring, and Darrin Ring and his daughter, Alisha. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m.in Christ Presbyterian Church with Pastor David deVries and Rev. Douglas A. Patton officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home and Friday one hour before the service at the church.
